August Martin High school students and
staff have raised $1,000.00 dollars for
Haiti, which will be donated to the
Doctors Without Borders. This fund
raising event organized by the Key
Club to show their support to the Haitian
people victimized by the January
12,2010 earthquake was very
successful. About 150 students,
parents and staff attended the event in
which they showed their support to the
Haitian people. All the students pulled
their resources together to make the
event a successful one. They sang,
recited poetry,performed plays in which
they expressed their support for the
Haitian people. Food that reflected the
varied cultural background of the
students of August Martin High School
was donated by the parents of the
students.
The students have in a very meaningful way lent a helping hand to the Haitian people. The August Martin High
School students were determined to make a difference and they did by contributing to the relief effort for Haiti.
Mr. Robert, a French and Communication Arts Teacher at August Martin High School, thanked the school on
behalf of all the Haitian staff, parents, and students for their show of support. He pledged that Haiti will be a
better place and hope that one day, all those who attended this beautiful event will visit the country that helped
change the role that people of African descent were brought to play in this part of the world.
